Mouse for Laptop - Why is a Laptop Mouse a Must-Have?

Welcome to MouseForLaptop.org! You will find on this site a plethora of manufacturers and suppliers of wireless mouse for laptop models. You will read about the variety of types of mice that can be your trusty and useful companions wherever you go with them.

When I first got my new laptop I was very excited. It was an Acer Aspire and they have a wonderful touchpad on the bottom of the keypad with the left click, right click, and even the up, down, left and right scrolling buttons included. A nice touchpad, yet, not enough for me.

I needed a pointing device that would be more precise so I would not depend on my slow and awkward thumb or pointer finger for navigation of the windows and for clicking on the windows controls and the operating system controls. I went online shopping for a mouse right away.

I looked around and I found a fitting solution, the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Mouse 3000. I was actually surprised to find Microsoft, primarily the computer software company, offering wireless mouse for laptop models. I trusted the company and I was not sorry. Three years later, this mouse is still my trusty and extremely useful companion wherever I go, be it to Starbucks, to the library. I use the wireless mouse for laptop every single time It really helps me with writing, when I need to edit, and position the pointer in the exact location. Of course I use this mouse, also known as Microsoft Intellipoint mouse, at home as well. By the way, most laptop mice today are USB based, so you will be able to use them not only on Windows laptops but also on Mac, or Linux, as long as they provide the Mac and Linux mouse drivers. In the meantime, Microsoft mouse for laptop 3000 is by along shot not the only mouse that Microsoft makes. Let's look into more options that you have as a laptop user to improve your windows experience.

Microsoft Mouse Models

Microsoft today produces a large number of mouse for laptop models, the most prominent of which are:

  • Microsoft 2.4 GHz cordless/wireless high definition laser mouse 7000 with tilt wheel, available in silver/black
  • Microsoft wireless laser mouse 4000, available in black, berry pink, and ocean teal blue
  • Wireless laser mouse 3000, available in green, white and black.

Alone the longevity of the Microsoft laser mouse 3000 in the marketplace tells a lot about its quality and usefulness.

Sure enough, Microsoft has plenty of competitors and the prices of their laptop mice have come down quite a bit from three years ago.

What I like the best about the Microsoft mouse for laptop:

  • the size of the mouse is 3/4 of the normal size of a mouse, which allows me to hold the mouse comfortably, even with my big hands. Yet it is small enough to pack
  • rubberized coating is great for a good feel of the mouse, and great for precision as the mouse does not slip from the hand when it is time to move it or drag with it
  • the rear top button snaps open the battery compartment. A single rechargeable AA type battery will do.
  • and the very best point of the Microsoft mouse for laptop to me is the fact that the USB dongle has been made to fit the under side of the mouse. This is hard to explain to someone who has not seen the laptop mouse, but, when you are not using the mouse, you pull the USB dongle out of the laptop USB port and insert the USB dongle into the underside of the mouse. This turns the mouse off.
  • it is hot-pluggable which is awesome when you are out and about and the time is of essence
  • its range is much greater than the typical bluetooth mice, and it operates on the standard public 2.4 GHz frequency range

Thanks to these characteristics, I am able to use the mouse daily for over 6 months without the need to replace or recharge the battery. Highly unexpected feature and time saving too!
